So everyone remembers the “What kinda name is Stove?” Steve and Tony meme that was going around. Well I was going through a bunch of Cap stuff where he can’t figure out an iPhone and is scared of microwave and I realized, that’s Stove. Steve’s hapless, mentally challenged doppelgänger.

One day he just shows up in the tower and everyone thinks it’s Steve but something’s happened to make him impossiblly stupid. Everyone is very worried, especially Tony who wonders if he is legally able to consent in this state, but at the end of the day Steve comes home from whatever he was off doing and everyone is relieved, if not confused.

Fury finally sorts it all out, explaining that Stove is a failed attempt at cloning made several years ago and that Stove is mostly harmless. Steve is rightly appalled at first but aside from his diminished mental state Stove is just as nice as the real think and Steve can’t hate someone just because of how they were born.

So that is the story of Stove and why sometimes people are mistakenly under the impression that Steve can’t use a toaster.
